Car companies have been investing in China, but Tiger Truck refuses to go with the flow. Recently, the truck manufacturer announced that they will be producing Chinese trucks in the U.S. The assembly plant will be located in Jasper, Texas.

In a ceremony to announce the construction of the assembly plant, the owners of Tiger Trucks, Texas Congressman Kevin Brady, and other state officials were present. They jointly announced that Tiger Trucks will be the manufacturing trucks that are designed by the ChangAn Automobile Group and this is China’s third largest truck manufacturer.

“With so many U.S. manufacturers investing in China, I am particularly pleased to be investing in the U.S., hiring skilled U.S. workers and delivering superior products made here for our market in the Americas,” says Mike Ward, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Tiger Trucks. “While others are trying to buy cheap parts from China, we are seeking important OEM and sourcing agreements with key U.S. suppliers. I couldn’t be more pleased with our long-standing partnership with ChangAn that leads to this historic first. In our off-road vehicle class, Tiger has been first to build an automatic transmission, 4WD, limited slip differential, electric drive, hybrid drive, and now, we will be the first to deliver true ‘Made in U.S.’ vehicles with a Chinese heritage. Our strong dealer network and fast-growing number of users seem to like what we are doing and now we can do it even better,” Ward added further.

The assembly plant to be constructed in Jasper will produce vehicles in early 2008. About 80 percent of the vehicles to be assembled at the Jasper plant will be for export. Tiger Trucks announced that they have initially planned the production of two truck platforms.

The first platform will support the Champ - a full-size pickup truck which will be available in either 2-door or 4-door configuration. The Leopard will also be built around the same platform as the Champ. The Leopard will be only for export and will be fitted with a diesel engine, dual rear-wheels and other features which will make it an efficient on-road vehicle.

The second platform is still to be named, but it is made for medium-duty truck. The vehicles to be built around the second platform will not only be built for export but will also be available in the U.S. market.

Congressman Brady expressed the sentiments of the community in his speech at the announcement ceremony: “With all the choices in North America available to Tiger Truck for the location of this important plant serving a large section of the international marketplace, we are particularly pleased that this remarkable facility was now available surrounded by an eager and skilled workforce positioned as it is to meet so many of your strategic objectives. All of Texas is celebrating this historic first with Tiger and we look forward to many good things to come.”

Just like the way a Toyota bumper protects the engine, the construction of the assembly plant will also protect the interest of skilled American auto workers.

Do you know about the military build up in mexico?
I drive truck for a living and tend to hear more about what is really going on in the world…Did you know there are hundreds if not thousands of Russian tanks south of the Mexican border also did you know there are tens of thousands of Chinese soldiers built up down there as well. I was told that the Russian and Chinese are holding war games…can you believe that? I don't!!!! Do you also know that our government wants to open up our border to 1oo trucking companies from Mexico and let there trucks on our roads? Did you also know that 95% of those trucks are not even close to being able to pass current DOT standards meaning they are so unsafe to operate its beyond belief that our government would allow them to even be here…So what do you think ?
just goes to show how much many of you have no clue you only see what the government wants you to see! check out this site you can see part of my proof judge for your self http://www.landlinemag.com/Special_Reports/2007/May07/052507_Truckers_claim.htm

Then get on xm radio channel 172 and listen to a show called The trucking Bozo you will hear all about what I have said
Its interesting how you all who watch your tv's to get your news still have no clue! I have picked up and delivered loads of goods down at our southern border and have met many people while there we get to talking and they tell me how I should see all of the tanks and troops down there I also talk to other drivers who also get told the same thing but Im the crazy one who needs to get a life…I wonder did you ever think that two airplanes taken over by terrorists would crash into and destroy the twin towers? Funny thing is the government knew it was going to happen but didn't act to make sure it didn't happen..How many of you knew or were related to someone who lost there life in that whole thing? I guess it will take something even more drastic for you all to open your eyes!!!!!!!!!

Before you know it half of America will be accepting that as the gospel truth. Some of them will probably know where Mexico is too.

I think you need to get a life.

Nothing of that is true, is not even a good urban legend.

How many people do you think will read past the extremely stupid part of your question to get to the moderately questionable part (95% not even close?)
Both China and Russia need their tanks at home, if you want a rational response.

We can't fight Mexico right now! We're kinda busy someplace else! Next time your down there, could you ask the Russians and Chinese to take a number, we'll be with them in a little bit! Our government probably flew the over here too!

I believe the second half of your question regarding the trucks.

    Everything else is nonsense.

I'm completely against trucks coming in to the US that don't meet the standard and that any truck that doesn't should be sent back.

In the current Amnesty Bill that our elected officials are selling out America - if u read the fine print, there's funding in it for the SUPER HIGHWAY. U can bet ur AAAAAAAAASS, they want to build a super highway from Mexico. It will break the teamsters.

Also, China wants to spend 2 BILLION dollars to buld a shipping port in Mexico. Instead of using Long Beach, they can deliver into Mexico (just so. of the border) and the SUPER HIGHWAY will let the Mexican truckers bring the wares right up into the U.S.A. On sub-standard trucks w/o insurance - welcome to the new North American union.

    America's no longer a country - it's a MARKET!!!

What you said about trucking has been a problem for years and I already knew about.

As far as a Russian and Chinese buildup, that is nonsense.
